3 exhibitions to go see absolutely
Paris is not considered to be the world capital of culture for nothing. During your stay in the city of light, why not include in your schedule the visit of some of the exhibitions that take place there this year? Indeed, it does not take a week without an exhibition to be held in a museum or in a gallery of the city. Apart from visiting the squares and monuments that make up the reputation of Paris, you can also organize yourself to find time to devote to the various exhibitions that are held in Paris throughout the year. Below are three shows that you must absolutely see during your visit to Paris.
Michael Jackson, on the Wall
For the tenth anniversary of the death of the most famous pop artist of the world, the Grand Palais will tell you its place within the artistic creation of the last 30 years through a great exhibition entitled: Michael Jackson, on the Wall. Although the legend is no longer of this world, its impact on the imaginations of contemporary artists and its influence that passes beyond the musical spheres will be in the spotlight for this exhibition. With Jeff Koons, Glenn Ligon, Paul McCarthy or Klara Liden and Dexter Dalwood…et other artists fascinated by Jackson, you would have a more focused view on the impact of the legend on current music. This exhibition will only be completed on February 14, 2019. See you at the Grand Palais, Champs-Elysées then!
The works of Fernand Khnopff at the Petit Palais, Champs-Elysées
It has already been 40 years since Paris no longer welcomed the works of Fernand Khnopff, a master of Belgian symbolism. A hundred emblematic pieces of this artist's complex aesthetic await you at the Petit Palais until March 19, 2019. Painter, draughtsman, engraver, sculptor and director, you will be dazzled by the works of Khnopff that will be put in the spotlight with the works of other artists such as Gustave Moreau and KLIMT as well as Von Stuck. Landscapes, portraits of children, musings inspired by the Flemish primitives to the memories of Bruges-la-Morte… This exhibition will address several themes that marked the works of KHNOPFF.
Cubist works by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso at the Pompidou Centre
This is the first time that France has hosted an exhibition dedicated to Cubism since 1953 and will take place in the Centre Pompidou. With 300 works and important documents of the radiance of Cubism, this exhibition will introduce you to new works by Picasso and Georges Braque. The experimental and collective character of the unity of Cubism will be in the spotlight for this exhibition. Since the Centre Pompidou is already a marvel that you must visit in Paris, this exhibition will be one more reason to go there. This exhibition will only end on February 25th. It's up to you to organize your schedule so you don't miss anything while you stay in Paris. Moreover, a trip to Paris without seeing at least a cultural exhibition would be a waste.
